-Do I have to use my equine's registered name from their other breed papers?
No, you may choose a name that differs from their outcross papers if you wish.
-What are outcross papers?
Outcross papers are your equine's papers with another association such as APHA, AQHA, ApHC, etc. For a full list of accepted outcross registries visit the PtHA® rulebook. Outcross registries not listed will be considered on a case by case basis.

-How long will it take for me to receive my registration/transfer/lease?
Please allow 4-6 weeks processing time from the date of receipt in the office, unless rush fees are paid.
-My APHA registered horse is registered in their color registry under the RG-070 rule/DNA rule. Will they be registered in the color registry for PtHA®?
PtHA® does not honor APHA's DNA Color registrations. If the horse does not have white hair with underlying pink skin somewhere on their body in the qualifying zone, they will be placed in PtHA's® solid registry.

-What is a horse/pony/utility type and do I have to choose one?
-My equine already has outcross papers, do I need to complete the breeder's certificate?
No, if your equine is already registered with another association you may leave the breeder's certificate blank.
-When do I need to complete the breeder's certificate?
If your equine does not have outcross papers, but you would still like the pedigree recorded on the certificate, the breeder's certificate will need to be completed and signed by the sire and dam owner(s) at the time of breeding. If the sire and/or dam are registered with another association, copies of their certificates must accompany the registration application unless they are already PtHA® registered. A breeder's certificate will only be accepted if it is completed in full. Partial or incomplete breeder's certificates will result in an Undocumented registration.
-My equine's parents are not registered with PtHA®, can my equine still be registered?
Yes, an equine's parents do not need to be registered with PtHA® in order to be eligible for registration.
-My equine does not have outcross papers and I do not know who the sire & dam are and/or I cannot get a completed breeder's certificate. Can my equine still be registered?
Yes, as long as the equine is not an undocumented horse stallion, they can be registered as Undocumented. The breeder information will be left blank and the pedigree will read as "unknown". The pricing for an Undocumented registration can be found in the fee schedule on the registration application. The per age fee(s) is for documented/papered equine only.
-Do I need to send photos of my equine in order to be registered?
Yes, all new registrations must be accompanied by photos of the equine. The required photos are: a full front view, a full back view, left side view and right side view. No parts of the horse should be cut off or obstructed. If the equine's mane and/or tail is braided, banded or wrapped, those need to be taken out for the photos so the mane & tail hair hang naturally. Photos can only be emailed to
